It's time for Competitive Group Evaluations!

beginning the week of Monday, January 12th

Starting Monday the 12th, Copper, Bronze, Silver and Gold will be conducting test sets and discussing all that it takes to advance to the next group. Every swimmer is practicing and preparing to take the next step whether that step is moving from copper to bronze or trying to make a first TMT. These stepping stones are built into the TMEC program at every level. For a group by group list of the Competitive Group Advancement Requirements, scroll to the bottom of the news page.

Stroke School is moving to CHS starting 12/22!

TMEC Stroke School Families,

The City of Temecula has decided to close the CRC pool for an undetermined length of time. In the late afternoon on 12/18 TMEC was notified that the CRC pool will be closed for maintenance purposes. The city has found that their pool is not in compliance with the “Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa safety Act”. This problem was completely unforeseen by TMEC and the aquatics management of the City of Temecula. Starting Monday 22nd and until further notice, all stroke school workouts will be conducted in the diving pool at CHS. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you and your family. Because TMEC workouts at CHS start at 5:20pm every night, stroke school will be on a new schedule which is basically backed up 35-50 minutes depending on which group your child swims in. That schedule will be posted on the TMEC website at schedule page. Once again we are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. However, this will be the first time in almost three years that all of our team will be swimming at the same facility. I personally am incredibly excited about getting the chance to once again get familiar with our TMEC families from Stroke School.

Sincerely,

Head Coach
Bryan Davis

Dear Members:

On November 26th, the 2008 TMEC Board of Directors communicated to you its intention to nominate candidates for the 2009 Board of Directors election process.  We’re pleased to announce that the initial nomination process is complete.   Just below, you will find two additional methods by which a voting member may be nominated as a candidate for the Board of Directors.

1.     Three voting members, currently representing approximately 2% of the voting membership, may nominate candidates for directorship by filing a petition with an Officer of the Club by midnight, January 12, 2009. The petition must be signed by each of the three petitioners.  Thereafter, the Secretary will add the names of those candidates to the ballot.

2.     Any voting member present at the meeting described below, in person or by proxy, may place candidates in nomination.

Please consider this to be official notification that an annual meeting of membership will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2009.  The meeting will be held in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Community Recreation Center located at 30875 Rancho Vista Road, Temecula, CA (951-694-6410).  The meeting will begin promptly at 7:00 PM.

Members eligible to vote are adult parents or adult legal guardians living with swimmers who participate in amateur competitive swimming activity conducted by TMEC.  Regardless of how many swimmers reside in a household, only a total of four individual votes may be cast per household, each of which must be cast for a different candidate.  Please remember that you will cast your votes for individuals only, not necessarily the positions that they will eventually hold.  The positions that will be filled as a result of your vote are the Dues Director, Registration Director, Public Relations Director, and the Apparel Director.  This election does not include the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.  Individuals to fill those positions are eventually selected by the four new Directors that you’ll have already voted into office.

The current, alphabetized ballot of candidates is presented in red just below.

Kristen Cornellison              Tony Self

David Jackson                       Josh Tennant

Leonard Kahn

If you are unable to attend the meeting:

Along with the full name of the voting member and the name(s) of the minor swimmer(s) residing with that voting member, please cast your vote(s) in an e-mail to Claire Holcomb at claireholcomb@verizon.net.  The deadline for e-mail voting is midnight, Tuesday, January 20, 2009…..five days following the membership meeting at the CRC.  This delay will provide ample time to make you aware of any additional candidates that were nominated by either of the procedures described in #1 and #2 above, and for you to respond with your vote.  Whether or not there are additional candidates, a notification will be posted on the TMEC website and an e-mail sent to each member family.

If you are able to attend the meeting, the agenda will consist of the following items:

1.     A voting member election of the 2009 Board of Directors.

2.     A report by the Treasurer regarding the overall financial condition of TMEC.  This presentation is informational only and no specific action is required on the part of the voting membership.

3.     A discussion entitled “What’s after JO’s”  --  Families of swimmers, ranging from Stroke School thru Senior Development, will receive a heads-up regarding what may lie in their swimmer’s future.  Often times, families think no further ahead than the vaunted JO’s.  There is much, much more and we’re anxious to describe that progression.

Thank you in advance for your willingness to assist in this important process.
